Important documents when buying a vehicle

What documentation should I take with to the dealership when I want to buy a vehicle? 

Fully employed private individuals:

  • Your valid and original drivers licence
  • Your original ID
  • Proof of your residential address, i.e. water and electricity bill not older than 3 months
  • Your banking details
  • Proof of income, i.e. latest payslips and/or bank statements from your bank and stamped by the bank (3 months)

Companies:

  • CK Documents/CM29
  • Valid and original certified copies of member/director(s) ID’s
  • 4 months original bank statements issued by the bank and stamped
  • FICA document for the company and for all members/directors not older than 3 months
  • A letter on a company letterhead signed and authorising the proxy of the company to sign any relevant documentation pertaining to the registration of the vehicle
  • Company to be registered and issued with a traffic register number from the licensing department
  • Latest audited financials and management accounts for the last six months
  • Valid and original CIPRO certificate indicating that the company is still active

Sole proprietor:

  • Valid ID and driver’s licence
  • 4 months original bank statements issued by the bank and stamped
  • Letter from a registered accountant stating owner of the company and average net earnings for the last six months
  • FICA document not older than 3 months

Trade-In:

  • Copy/Original of Natis Certificate (Registration documents)
  • Valid settlement letter from Financial Institution
