Chery set a new record in its 10th year by selling more than 500 000 vehicles.
This impressive performance entrenched Chery as the top-selling independent Chinese brand for the 11th consecutive year and the highest volume passenger vehicle exporter for the seventh successive year.
The Chery QQ was the best-selling model in the expanding product range, with 168 554 units sold in 2009 – an increase of 26.4% over 2008. The J5, J3 and Cowin sold a combined total of 198 242 units, which amounted to 39.6% of Chery’s total sales. The Tiggo SUV was another strong performer in both domestic and export markets, with the highest monthly sales reaching almost 7 000 units.
Chery started its export growth phase in 2007 when the one millionth Chery, a J3, came off the production line. Today, Chery products are sold in more than 80 countries.
